I read this book first as a buddy read with a couple of friends back in 2014. So I decided to do a reread of this now that I have all of the books and I felt like I need to refresh my memory with the plot and characters of the story. Wow so much I had forgotten or maybe never even absorbed in the first place. I do find that I enjoyed this reread more than when I first read the book.
In this story we have Karou who is a part of the Chimerae race, having been raised by Brimstone. Karou uses wishes freely without considering what makes them work. Brimstone continually tells her that she is foolish. She runs 'errands' for Brimstone of transporting teeth because they are essential for their survival even though Karou does not really know the use for them. She finds that she has to hide her life from her best friend, Zuzana. Soon burned handprints are found on doors(portals) everywhere and it becomes a threat to Karou and her world as she knows it. Wars rage between the Chimerae and the Seraphim. And the story goes on...
The first time I read this, the book felt like it started off a little slow and even considered putting it down. Now with this reread I did not feel that way at all. This book is chock full of great imagery and great world building, if felt as though the world just came to life. The story was very visual so I could picture myself there in Karou's shoes. The story flowed very well, it had great pacing. I can't even imagine feeling like it was too slow. I also love how poetic the author is. Plenty of passages to enjoy in this book. I also love how significant the title is to this story.
I love the characters in this story so well developed. There are quite a few characters introduced right from the beginning. And then you will meet other characters throughout the book. So there are plenty to both love and hate. My favorite of course would have to be Karou. She is such a strong character and I feel like she is pretty relatable as well. She does seem to be a little spoiled at the beginning, but she does grow well. I also really enjoyed her best friend Zuzana. She helps keep Karou grounded and focused. One other character that I found quite enjoyable is Akiva who is of the Seraphim race. I like how he is written into the story and you learn more about him as the story goes on. The character growth in the story is just amazing.
I found this book to be both character and plot driven which is always enjoyable. I look forward to the rest of this series now that I have been refreshed on this story. I recommend this to anyone really, especially those who likes YA fantasy. Beautifully written and very engaging.
Wow what an experience this book was. This book is a book that was picked for me for the Pick 5 challenge. And WOW is all I can say. This is a Science fiction which is completely out of my comfort zone and I absolutely loved this book! Right now, I can't imagine not reading it. So glad I was given the opportunity to do so.Synopsis

Ok so at first I thought, great a science fiction, and then I picked up the book and turned to the first page and was glued to it till I finished it. This is the great escape into the universe! This is truly my favorite book for February. The plot draws readers in right from the start, you can't help yourself because you can feel the excitement building from that first page and you know you are in for one wild ride. The world that has been built here is built with such great imagery, that it makes you forget that any other places even exists. There are great twists to the story that add so much more to the story. Readers will feel every single emotion possible while reading this book.
The Characters are just stunning. They are so well developed, so relatable, and so believable. You have strong characters, weak characters, evil and good characters, characters that are off the charts in all areas. Readers will love every one of them for what they are or who they become. A nice mix of protagonists and antagonists. The ones you love and the ones you love to hate. Of course as far as characters goes it is hard to choose one favorite out of all of them, but I have to say Kady probably is my favorite. She grows so well throughout this story. She is strong and smart, but she also has her own issues and flaws that make her very relatable.
I have to recommend this book to everyone seriously. Even if you don't like Sci-fi I can guarantee you will love this story. Beautifully written and so entertaining. It is so worth trying it out. If I could rate this higher than a 5 I definitely would.
This is the second installment to the Jesse Stone series and also part of my series-a-thon for this year. So I want to stay on top of the series and read them when I can. I did enjoy this one more than the first one, but still not quite up to the 4 star rating.

The plot was ok with this book, it just did not blow me away is all. One of the things I do really like about the Author's writing style is his use of dialogue in his books. There is rarely a page with no dialogue and it keeps the pace of the book very upbeat and I love that because it keeps the pages turning. I felt like the plot was missing some depth though. It lacked some of the excitement that I love to read in a good mystery. So I am hoping that will improve some more the further I go in the series.
The characters I really enjoy and the authors really gives his readers a good feel for them. Jesse seems to be a very confused guy in the love department and feels out of sorts with being divorced from his wife. She does not make it easy for him to let go of the relationship, so I really don't care for that. It kind of has the Will Trent feeling without the psychotics. Jesse certainly can make the ladies swoon over him while he tries to perform his duties as Police Chief. I have to say that so far this series has been pretty character driven, now if the author can get the plots going I feel like it will be an amazing series.
I was really excited to get ahold of this book since I loved the first 2 in the trilogy. What a wonderful wrap up to the story. I found this one to be just as exciting in not more so than the other 2 books. So glad I got to read this one. The Author is so talented with world building and character development.
I wont give a synopsis for this book since it is the third in the series. The overall story is about bad angels who came down from heaven to take residence on earth. Humans really have no chance of survival with these angels being on earth. Penryn continually fights for the humans freedoms while Raffe, one of the 'good guy' angels is steadfast by her side.
I have to say that I absolutely love the great imagery in this book/series especially when it comes to the world building itself, because readers can really get a wonderful glimpse into what the world would be like in case of an Angel Apocalypse and place themselves there in the middle of it all. There is lots of action and excitement from page one all the way to the end of the book and I love that. The book had me glued to the pages. I love how fluid it is and how easy it is to follow. I also love all of the feels that come along with this relationships between characters, especially between Raffe and Penryn. Very well done.
Of course the characters are fantastic yet again. I love Raffe so much. He is so well developed he is strong and fierce along with Penryn and her family. I love how Penryn takes control of situations that have gone awry and handles them. She is definitely a fighter and so is her sister Paige. Just beautifully done characters through and through.
I recommend this series to anyone, however this is not your fluffy YA angel story, so be aware of that. It is dark and gritty but so well worth the read, so exciting that if you don't read it, you are missing out. I will absolutely read anything else that this author puts out.
Wow and I was worried I would be disappointed with this book/series after reading her Will Trent series. I gotta say I was so wrong on that theory. This book starts the series out with a bang, It is nice to go back and learn a little about some of those characters we discover in the Will Trent series. Fantastic!

Loved the plotline to this book. It was intense, dark and somewhat gritty. There was plenty of excitement and non stop action in this book. It seemed at the turn of every page something new was developing. I loved how everything tied together in the end and I could not stop guessing what was gonna happen next. Just a great story all round.
The characters start out well developed, and now I can see why some of them are the way the are in the Will Trent series. I am sure they will continue developing very well. I like the small town setting with small town people. The author really made them all come to life for me and I enjoyed that so very much. I look forward to reading more about them.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery with strong female leads, because Slaughter really knows how to write them. She is now among my favorite writers in this genre.
I had just recently read a book by Perrin Briar and it was just ok for me. I was notified by someone about this one being free on Kindle and how they enjoyed it so much. So I decided to go get it and read it. I really enjoyed this one. I found that it flowed really well and was action packed.

I enjoyed the plot to this story much better than the last one I read by this author. This story was definitely more believable and it had a much better flow to it. There were a couple of parts I thought were unnecessary but overall it was very entertaining. I liked all the action in this one and how the characters all had a story to tell.
The characters were also more relatable, however I do have to say that Chris got on my nerves a few times with his 'all about himself' routine, never mind that he has an 8 year old daughter to look after. Other than that I liked Chris for the most part. I think it ended on a good note with enough to make readers long for the next book. I recommend this book/series to anyone who enjoyes zombie stories or post apocalyptic stories. I will probably be reading book 2 in this series.
This is the first installment of a Zombie series and I was introduced to this book by someone doing a blog tour for the author. I saw it was about Zombies and figured what the heck, I would try it out since most Zombie stories I have read I have enjoyed for the most part.
Synopsis

I was a little excited when I picked up this book since it seemed so different with the plot of story taking place in the middle of the sea, but I have to say that this story was just ok for me. I mean there was a lot going on and a lot happening with all the action, but some parts just felt very unrealistic to me. I found it hard to place myself within the story and experience what the characters were feeling. The story was very fluid and easy to follow but it really lacked depth and I am attributing that to the lack of some back story.
I really did not care all that much for the characters because I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I think that is probably because I did not feel like I got to know them at all. It was a a pretty short installment, so maybe they develop more throughout the series. I think a bit of back story to our characters would also be helpful.
I may read the other installments in this series, but I have not really decided yet. I am not sure who I could recommend this too besides those who like Zombie stories. I am giving this 2.5 stars for the action that was in the book even though it did not feel very realistic.
